Here's a quote to live by.

My dear friend,

"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind,
flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to
everything." - Plato

Actress: A Poem

My dear friend,

Here is another poem I wrote. Enjoy it.

Stepping onto the stage, she lifts her face to the lights
She lets out a sigh and whispers her part
She doesn't know what she would be without this life

She takes her bow and throws a kiss to the black
She can't make out faces, but she doesn't mind
No one out there knows what her life lacks

And all she knows and all she feels isn't real
Everything she says, every move she makes
Is nothing but pages and ink

She is an actress, and she lives in lies
The lies are all she knows
She is an actress, and when she smiles
No one can tell she wants to cry

The curtain falls for the final time
She wants to let go, but can't find the reason
Wanting to sing, but can't find the rhyme

Bravo, they call, and she feels right for a moment
She's found her place, but it never lasts
They take it away, never ask for her consent

And all she knows and all she feels isn't real
Everything she says, every move she makes
Is nothing but pages and ink

She is an actress, and she lives in lies
The lies are all she knows
She is an actress, and when she smiles
No one can tell she wants to cry

Backstage in the dressing room, she closes the door
Shuts out the feelings that threaten to follow her in
She doesn't want to face the world anymore

Wipes off her makeup, picks up her keys
Another night alone, waiting for the instant
She can walk back on her stage with the greatest of ease

And all she knows and all she feels isn't real
Everything she says, every move she makes
Is nothing but pages and ink

She is an actress, and she lives in lies
The lies are all she knows
She is an actress, and when she smiles
No one can tell she wants to cry

Why I Love Television.

My dear friend,

Tonight being Monday night, my favorite television show was gracing the flat screen at my grandmother's house.

It wasn't the best episode that Castle has ever produced, but the ending of it really tugged at my heartstrings and sent me close to tears.

"If you don't believe in even the possibility of magic, you'll never find it."

Concern

My dear friend,

I am slowly spinning out of control. I have made some very bad choices lately, and I need to fix them. I have nothing else to say about that.

My new favorite song.

My dear friend,

Paramore recently released their newest album, and this is my favorite song on the whole album. Paramore is not usually a band I enjoy, but this song really touched my heart. I thought I'd share the lyrics and the video. I do not own this song, I do not pretend that I wrote any part of it. I'm just sharing.

When I was younger
I saw my daddy cry
And curse at the wind
He broke his own heart
And I watched
As he tried to reassemble it

And my momma swore that
She would never let herself forget
And that was the day that I promised
I'd never sing of love
If it does not exist

But darling,
You, are, the only exception
You, are, the only exception
You, are, the only exception
You, are, the only exception

Maybe I know, somewhere
Deep in my soul
That love never lasts
And we've got to find other ways
To make it alone
Keep a straight face

And I've always lived like this
Keeping a comfortable, distance
And up until now
I had sworn to myself that I'm
Content with loneliness

Because none of it was ever worth the risk

Well, You, are, the only exception
You, are, the only exception
You, are, the only exception
You, are, the only exception

I've got a tight grip on reality
But I can't
Let go of what's in front of me here
I know you're leaving
In the morning, when you wake up
Leave me with some kind of proof it's not a dream

Ohh---

You, are, the only exception
You, are, the only exception
You, are, the only exception
You, are, the only exception
You, are, the only exception
You, are, the only exception
You, are, the only exception
You, are, the only exception

And I'm on my way to believing
Oh, And I'm on my way to believing

Love of Every Kind (or Love by Numbers)

My dear friend,

The only poem I have ever written that I didn't post immediately for all to read. It's special to me.

We were both fourteen when I saw you there
I was the new girl, you had funny hair
Who could have known it all started then
I was just so honored to call you a friend

Love number one: grateful and fun

Together we stood, us against the rest
This love, we thought, was the best of the best
You and I have been in every kind of love
We never felt like we had anything to prove

We were both fifteen when I cried on your shoulder
Scared of change and growing older
You became my brother that night
I preserved that love, I knew it was right

Love number two: caring and true

Together we stood, us against the rest
This love, we thought, was the best of the best
You and I have been in every kind of love
We never felt like we had anything to prove

We were both sixteen when we fell in true love
You were my everything, far and above
I treasured every minute at your side
With you around, I had nothing to hide

Love number three: a lock and key

Together we stood, us against the rest
This love, we thought, was the best of the best
You and I have been in every kind of love
We never felt like we had anything to prove

We were both seventeen when the fights began
When the going got tough, we both cut and ran
You changed me then, I am still not the same
It may have been fun, but it was never a game

Love number four: seared to the core

Divided we stood, you against me
This love, we thought, wasn't meant to be
You and I have been in every kind of love
We never felt like we had anything to prove

We were both eighteen when we made up and were friends
The kind of friendship that really never ends
We knew then that our love would last
Together we cried and screamed and laughed

Love number five: awake and alive

Together we stood, us against the rest
This love, we thought, was the best of the best
You and I have been in every kind of love
We never felt like we had anything to prove

We were both nineteen when we said goodbye
I held you close as I started to cry

Love number six: broken then fixed

Together we stood, us against the rest
This love, we thought, was the best of the best
You and I have been in every kind of love
We never felt like we had anything to prove

Though the years and through bitter tears
You and I have dealt with our fears
Life goes on, life gets tough
We've been through so much, and still it's rough

Together we stand, us against the rest
This love, I am sure, is the best of the best
You and I have been in every kind of love
You're my best friend, my other half, my sidekick, my protector
And we still don't have anything to prove

With all my love,

Alyssa
